>> The Advanced Lubricant R&D Center
The Advanced Lubricant R&D Center, one of the applied technology platforms of the Research Institute of Tsinghua, Pearl River Delta, was established in March 2022. Leveraging resources from the Institute, Tsinghua University’s Automotive Tribology Program and the Chinese Tribology Institution, it provides advanced technological support to enhance the reliability and extend the service life of sophisticated equipment in the petrochemical, energy and power, automotive, transportation, and national defence industries. In line with carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, the center also offers tailored lubrication material solutions to its clients.
TSINGDOC, a brand of specialty lubrication materials launched by the center, provides a product portfolio that includes automotive oils, industrial lubricants, clean-energy engine oils and various fuel additives.
The core R&D Center team consists of experts with doctoral degrees, who are affiliated with Tsinghua University (THU), Chinese University of Petroleum (UPC), South China University of Technology (SCUT) and other leading institutions. The members also hold roles such as commissioners of SAC/TC22 and CMIF/TC15*, as well as directorships in the Tribology Division of the Guangdong Mechanical Engineering Society.
The team expertise covers specialty greases, eco-friendly lubrication, tribochemicals and additives, engineering tribology, and smart manufacturing. They have authored scientific monographs such Handbook of Lubrication Technology and Motor Vehicle Engine Coolant, and have also participated in the National 863 Program, the Industrial Base Strengthening Plan, and other major Chinese national R&D programs.* SAC/TC22 and CMIF/TC15 are China national technical committees for standardization in metal-cutting machine tools, and reducers and variators, respectively.
